Geraint Howells
Geraint read law at Brunel University and was called (Inner Temple) in 2002.
Geraint has worked in the consumer law field for over twenty years as an academic.
His main specialism relates to Product Liability and Safety, but he has also worked extensively in other field such as sales of goods, unfair term, consumer credit and trade practices. He has a particular interest in European consumer law. He finds practice a useful complement to his academic work, whether it involves bringing his doctrinal and policy experience to bear on complex and challenging practical problems or engaging in daily practice.
Geraint has published well over a hundred books and substantial papers. Those of particular relevance to practise include Butterworths’ Product Liability, EC Consumer Law and Consumer Protection Law.
His latest book European Fair Trading – The Unfair Commercial Practices Directive deals with the major impact this directive will have on UK consumer law. He is editor of the Yearbook of Consumer Law.
He has lectured to academics and practitioners in most regions of the world and regularly acts as a consultant for NGOs, the DTI and the European Commission. He is a member of the Acquis Group that is commissioned to advise the EC on European Contract Law Harmonisation.
