Kate Urell
Kate read law at Girton College, University of Cambridge, the University of Montpellier I (Diploma in French Law) and Nottingham Law School. She was called to the Bar by the Middle Temple in 2002 and was a Major Harmsworth Scholar.
As a student, Kate was a finalist in the Middle Temple Rosamund Smith Mooting Competition, as a result of which she represented Middle Temple in the USA.
She has also mooted in French in the Rene Cassin Competition held in the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
Kate specialises in consumer law, in particular in the areas of consumer credit, food law and trading standards. She appears in the civil and criminal courts and regularly acts for both businesses and local authorities undertaking advisory and contentious work.
She is experienced in acting for finance houses and suppliers in consumer credit/ sale and supply of goods cases and regularly prosecutes and defends in a range of regulatory matters. Kate also has experience in drafting representations to the OFT in consumer credit licensing “minded to revoke” proceedings and advises on food labelling issues.

In her spare time Kate enjoys running, tennis and walking her dogs.
