Sandra McCalla

Sandra graduated from the University of Essex and was called (Lincoln’s Inn) in 1999.

She specialises in consumer law, in particular in the areas of trading standards, food law and consumer credit.

She advises banks, finance companies and consumers in connection with the provision of credit and goods on hire or hire-purchase. She has acted for and against credit institutions under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 and subordinate legislation.

Issues which she has dealt with under the Act, Regulations and Orders include advertising, drafting of agreements, enforceability and extortionate credit bargains. In recent years Sandra has been heavily involved in licensing proceedings following the service of minded to revoke and mined to refuse notices.

Sandra is co-author of The Consumer Credit Act 2006: A Guide to the New Law (Law Society Publishing 2006). She regularly gives lectures for independent CPD course providers and contributes to training days provided by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
