Thomas accepts instructions for both advisory and court work in all Chambers' main practice areas, including:
Consumer Credit
Advises and acts on behalf of banks, building societies and other financial institutions in relation to claims arising from all aspects of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 including alleged irredeemable unenforceability, sections 77-79 (following McGuffick and Carey), unfair relationships, PPI, hire-purchase, and section 75 claims.
Mortgages
Represents mortgagees at applications for orders for possession under CPR Part 55 and suspension of possession under Administration of Justice Act 1970, section 36.
Commercial
Advises and acts in relation to a range of matters including Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999, Data Protection Act 1998, sale of goods, insurance and general contract/tort disputes.
Regulatory
Advises and acts in both civil and criminal matters including general product safety and packaging law, Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, Town & Country Planning Act 1990 and Road Traffic Act 1988.
Prior to coming to the Bar, Thomas undertook a Reprieve internship at the Gulf Region Advocacy Center in Houston, Texas, conducting mitigation investigations on behalf of indigent clients facing the death penalty. In his spare time, he maintains a keen interest in blues and jazz guitar music.
